Horizon Projects

iTunesU

In 2007, ITMS began managing a pilot version of Apple's™ iTunesU™ portal. iTunesU, similar to iTunes, is Apple's media browser and a means by which content, either audio or video, can be hosted as well as subscribed to and delivered or podcast. For more information on the iTunesU pilot at UW, contact Alan Kirker at ext. 37109.

To view the pilot portal page, click this link to launch iTunesUWaterloo. You must have iTunes installed on your computer. If you do not, you can download iTunes from the Apple website.

Here are some technical specifications from the Apple website on iTunesU and the types of files and file formats it supports.

For more information on podcasting in general, visit the audio page of this website.

Self Serve Media Lab

Another project on the ITMS horizon is a self-serve media lab. This lab would provide equipment and resources for students, staff, and faculty to create instructional and academic project content. If you would like further information about this lab, or if you have ideas as to what you would like to see in such a facility, contact Scott Charles at ext. 36784, Dianne Naughton at ext. 38319, or Alan Kirker at ext. 37109.
