Streaming Sites

Streaming Sites:

Media Loans & Licensing subscribes to the National Film Board's On Line Screening Room. There are over 2100 programs, both full length documentaries and trailers on this site, which can be accessed and streamed into the classroom or used for Distance Education. The National Film Board regularly adds new programming to the site. They also have made many of their online films available with closed captioning for the deaf and described video for people with vision loss.  When closed captioning or described video is available for a given film, the DV or CC icon will appear in the control bar of the video player. Clicking on the icon or pressing “d” will start the alternative version of the film.

Another site, Thanhouser Video,  offers free streaming of 56 films from the early 1900s. Click here to access the title listing of the programs available from the site and then click on the specific title you want to view.

Mosfilm, a Moscow film company behind some of the greatest classics of Soviet cinema has agreed to make dozens of its best-known movies freely available on line. The films are subtitled and some are available for downloading for a fee. Click here to access the Mosfilm site.
