IS IT AN ACCEPTABLE FORM OF FUNDING TO USE ON A PROMISSORY NOTE?

DOES THE PROOF DOCUMENT INDICATE THE AMOUNT OF FUNDING AND THAT THE FUNDING IS SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS TERM?
Things you can’t claim on a Promissory Note:
- RESP funding
- Scholarships, bursaries, loans from outside Canada or the USA
- Personal student loans
- Employer reimbursements
- A promise to pay later from personal sources or a Co-op job
- Passport to Education
- Tuition Vouchers
- Proof of student loan funding from the CanLearn site
- External scholarships, bursaries, awards payable to the student
Using OSAP?
- Screenshot of your Funding Summary page from the OSAP website showing funding specifically for this term, OR
- Screenshot of an estimate from the OSAP website showing funding specifically for this term
- You can’t claim the Ontario Student Opportunity Grant funding on your Promissory Note
Using other provincial student loans?
- Copy of your assessment showing funding specifically for this term
Using uWaterloo scholarships, bursaries, awards or a GRS?
- Screenshot of your Quest Financial Aid page, OR
- Screenshot of your Quest financial details page showing Anticipated Aid, OR
- Copy of a letter or email verifying the amount of funding and that it’s for this term
Using scholarships, bursaries, awards from Canadian or USA organizations other than uWaterloo?
- Copy of a letter or email verifying the amount of funding and that it’s for this term
- You can’t claim scholarships, awards, or government loans from outside Canada or USA
Using an RA/TA?
- Copy of a letter or email verifying the amount of funding and that it’s for this term
- If you’re also getting scholarships/awards this term, and they’ll leave a balance on your account less than $100.00, you can’t use your RA/TA to pay your fees directly
Using a Tuition Benefit because your parent is a uWaterloo employee?
- Be sure your parent completes the online form and submits it
- Once the form has been submitted, you can complete your Promissory Note; the receipt number from the Tuition Benefit submission will automatically appear during the Promissory Note submission process, so you don't need to attach a Tuition Benefit form as a proof document.
- The Tuition Benefit is only applied to charges for Tuition, Co-op Fee and Work Report Marking Fee, not all the other incidental fees
Using a Tuition Benefit because you’re a uWaterloo employee?
- Be sure you complete the online form and submit it
- Once the form has been submitted, you can complete your Promissory Note; the receipt number from the Tuition Benefit submission will automatically appear during the Promissory Note submission process, so you don't need to attach a Tuition Benefit form as a proof document.
- The Tuition Benefit is only applied to charges for Tuition for up to two .5-credit courses each term
Using a Third-Party Sponsorship?
- Copy of a letter from your sponsor that states—
- Your name
- The start and end dates of your funding
- Name, address, email address and phone number of sponsor
- Any fees your sponsor won’t cover
Using a Seniors Bursary?
- Copy of your passport, birth certificate or driver’s licence as proof that you’re 65 or older
Are there still fees for this term which aren’t covered by your funding?
- Attach a scanned copy of a receipt from making a payment of this amount at your bank
- Attach a screenshot of your payment confirmation page from making a payment of this amount using online banking
- Attach a copy of a certified cheque, money order or bank draft from a Canadian or USA bank for this amount
- Attach a copy of a wire advice from making a payment of this amount by international wire transfer or Travelex bank-to-bank transfer
- Your payment must be dated on or before the due date to avoid a Late Fee.
