Bank of Montreal makes
major donation
to Renison College at
the University of Waterloo
WATERLOO, Ont. -- Renison College's
capital campaign, "Working Together -- Building Our Future," received
a major boost today with a $75,000 gift from BMO - Bank of Montreal.
The money will fund a classroom in
the planned new academic centre at the college at the University of Waterloo. A
reception, in recognition of the gift, was held today.
"The Bank of Montreal is well
known in our community, indeed at a national and an international level, as a
tremendous supporter of education," said John Crossley, Renison Principal.
"This is a substantial
investment and one which will provide significant benefits to Renison College
students," he added.
Renison is noted for the quality
and diversity of its students, faculty and programs.
Academic programs include Social
Work, Social Development Studies and Religious Studies, along with the East
Asian Studies Program.
The college is becoming
increasingly international in scope. An exchange program with Poole University
in Japan is in the works and the English Language Institute continues to
surpass expectations, said Catherine Voight, Renison Development Officer.
At present, 29 teachers from the
Jiangsu Province in China are guests at the college.
