Frequently Asked Questions
1. What if I have to cancel.
If you have to cancel, we will open your dates up and try to rebook the cottage for you. If we are successful in doing so, your deposit would be refunded.
2. Do I have to clean the cottage?
We hope you will leave the cottage as you found it. Cleaning supplies and equipment are available for you at the cottage.
3. Is the water safe to drink?
Yes, the cottage is hooked up to town water so the water is safe to drink.
4. How cold/warm is the water?
Water temperatures will vary on the time of year and the weather. Lake Huron is on the west side of the Peninsula and is usually quite warm by July.
5. What do I do if there is a problem when I'm at the cottage?
If there is a problem when you arrive at the cottage or throughout your stay, please contact us to let us know so we can try to rectify the problem for you. Our contact numbers are listed in the cottage book. Don’t wait to let us know after you get home as we want to rectify the problem as soon as it occurs.
6. Can I have a camp fire at the cottage?
Yes, but mindful of the neighbours and please put it out before heading off to bed. If you choose to have a small fire on the beach no one usually bothers you and the star gazing is amazing!
7. Will my cell phone work at the cottage?
Please don't assume that your cell phone will work 100% throughout Cottage Country.
8. How do I get the keys and directions to the cottage?
Once we have received your final payment we send you an email with a location of the key and a map.
9. What do I do with my garbage?
Everything you bring to the cottage has to be disposed of one way or another, including garbage and recyclables. We prefer our guests take as much of their waste home with them. We have curb side pickup that requires tags. Please check the garbage/recycling schedule in the cottage binder for details.
10. What if I break something?
Many cottage rentals require a damage deposit. We trust you will replace whatever has been damaged or broken.
11. Is the cottage on a septic system?
Yes, all waste goes directly to the septic system. Please be sure only natural waste is flushed through the system, and please do what you can to run as little water as possible when bathing.
