The Office for Persons with Disabilities (OPD) provides:

to students, faculty, staff and campus visitors with disabilities.
We collaborate with all academic units and student services departments to promote equitable access to programs, services and facilities at the University of Waterloo.
We are here to enhance the many services that are currently provided for students at the University of Waterloo and hope that your time spent at the University will be a valuable and fulfilling educational experience!
Services & Academic Accommodations include:
- Access to the Adaptive Technology Centre, complete with adaptive technology and computer work stations located in the Dana Porter Library
- Access to the Education & Technology Lab, complete with adaptive technology and computer work stations located in the OPD office, Needles Hall
- Alternate examination arrangements
- Assessment of learning profile
- Campus transportation service for students with a mobility concern (registration required)
- Information on all campus and community resources
- Liaison with campus housing and attendant services
- Maps with wheelchair accessible routes and building entrances
- Photocopying services (with advisor approval)
- Resource Centre with up-to-date information on a variety of disability-related subjects
- Specialized technical equipment loans (tape recorders, FM systems etc.)
- Volunteer assistance programs
Academic Accommodations
Students requesting academic accommodations are required to provide documentation pertaining to their disability from a qualified professional (such as medical documentation or psycho-educational assessments).
If a student does not have documentation, the OPD can help make arrangements to obtain the necessary documentation when appropriate.
