Academic Information
For academic information students should consult:
Accommodations and Exam Procedures
Students requesting academic accommodation(s) are required to provide documentation concerning their disability from a qualified professional.
If a student does not have documentation, the OPD can help make arrangements to obtain it when appropriate.
Steps:
- Meet with your advisor at the beginning of every term to review and determine accommodations for the term and complete the triplicate forms.
- Make an appointment to meet with your professors during office hours to have your triplicate forms signed.
- Return the white copies to the OPD, Needles Hall, room 1132.
- Keep your advisor informed if you drop or add courses throughout the semester.
- The exam schedule is posted in the binder in the OPD reception area.
- For anyone writing with the OPD for the first time, you must attend an exam procedures overview session.
Mandatory Exam Overview Session
All students writing examinations with the Office for Persons with Disabilities must attend one exam procedures overview session. To book an appointment, contact Ruth Huard at ext. 35082.
English Language Proficiency Program (ELPE)
- Students are required to write the ELPE (a 300 to 500 word impromptu essay) on a topical issue to demonstrate proficiency in English.
- Students registered with the Office for Persons with Disabilities may write the ELPE at the OPD with accommodations.
- Further inormation regarding examination dates, sample essays, faculty requirements, the marking scheme and the Writing Clinic can be found on the ELPE site.
