1. MANDATE

1. Monitor progress related to implementation of CECS review report recommendations, and provide annual report to Senate and Board of Governors.
2. Review reports from Faculties/Departments/Schools related to sustainability of co-op plans, ongoing or new.
3. Identify and assess best practice (at UW and elsewhere) related to co-op education, and highlight opportunities and support needed to enhance co-op at UW.
4. Provide oversight for co-op academic credit courses taken during work terms.
5. Identify strategies and actions to enhance culture of co-op education within UW, especially for faculty and non-CECS staff.
6. Advocate and advise related to co-operative education in UW.

2. MEMBERSHIP

Co-operative Education Council will consist of the following members:

• the Associate Provost, Resources
• the Executive Director, Co-operative Education & Career Services
• the Director, Student & Faculty Relations, Co-operative Education & Career Services
• Associate Director, Field Services, Co-operative Education & Career Services
• An Associate Dean, from each faculty
• VP Education, Federation of Students
• Director, Professional Development Program, Associate Provost, Resources (non-voting member)
• Director, Professional Development for Engineering (non-voting member)
• A student member, from each faculty
• Director, Centre for Advancement of Co-operative Education, (non-voting member)

3. ARRANGEMENTS

1. Chair of Council to be Associate Provost, Resources
2. Council to meet monthly until June 2006, then determine appropriate frequency of meetings for next academic year.
