Unit Types & Facilities

The links on this website are designed to give you a good idea of the facilities for grad students at St. Paul’s. It is possible to come and see the building if you arrange this with us in advance. We are unable to show apartment and suite units as they are always occupied. We are also unable to accommodate "drop in" requests.

Common Areas

The Apartments building at St. Paul’s was designed to promote community. There are lots of places in the building available for use by all tenants including:

  • Rooftop patio lounge
  • Fitness and large screen TV room
  • Games room
  • Laundry facilities

The main St. Paul’s building also has a dining facility that tenants are welcome to use on a pay-as-you-eat basis. Alternatively, tenants may purchase a mini or partial meal plan.

The Apartments at St. Paul's are a shared community. It is recommended that you review Tenant Expectations before applying.

Please note that the Apartments at St. Paul's is a smoke-free building. Smoking is NOT permitted in your unit or in any other part of the building.

Apartments

Apartments are available to grad students, post-doctoral fellows and visiting professors at the University of Waterloo who have families or dependents.

All apartments are air conditioned and have private bathrooms and kitchen facilities.

Apartments include a stove, fridge, and microwave but are otherwise unfurnished. A limited amount of furniture is available for rent.

Suites

Suites are shared accommodations available to single students.

Suite units are furnished with bedroom and lounge furniture. The kitchen has a table and chairs, stove, fridge and microwave. All suites are air conditioned.

Two- and three-bedroom suites have separate bedrooms, a shared bathroom and kitchen, and a shared lounge.

Economy suites have separate bedrooms, a shared bathroom and a shared kitchen.

Suites provide a unique opportunity for you to live closely with people from all over the world, from all areas of study, and at different levels of study. You will be placed in a suite with one or two other students of your gender. (Sorry, we are unable to accommodate suite-mate requests.)

Please note:

If you have living practices or restrictions that would not allow you to share a suite comfortably with someone with other practices, we recommend that you do not apply. Shared suite living is not suitable for everyone.

Room changes within the building can only be made at the end of a term and only when vacancies allow a move. A fee of $500 applies.

Dorms

Dormitory rooms are sometimes available to single grad students at our regular dorm fees. These are located in the dormitory residence, not the graduate apartments. Use the grad suite application to apply.
