Why St. Paul's?I chose St. Paul’s because it was the ‘Environment Residence.’ Being in first-year Planning, I knew that I would have questions about assignments and I knew there would be other students with the answers to those questions just down the hall from me. Having those networking possibilities and living with people in the same faculty made me feel more comfortable and made me think that the transition would be a lot easier with my environment peers around me. Not to mention going to a residence where there are only 200 students compared to 2,000.
The people at St. Paul’s are a family. We all eat together, have class together and live together. All the residents, dons, and cafeteria staff are here to see you succeed. There are no cliques or groups at St. Paul’s. Everyone here is open-minded, caring and welcoming. There has not been one incident where I have regretted choosing St. Paul’s because of the priceless memories and the lasting relationships I've made.
My favourite moment at St. Paul’s was when we played a massive Capture the Flag game! It was one of the first residence-wide activities that we did and all the boys from every floor came out to play. It was great to meet people from the other floors and interact in a fun, competitive way. Of course, winning Capture the Flag was the highlight of the night but most of all hanging out with people you might not have talked to before really brought us together as a community.
The Living-Learning Community was one of the major reasons I decided to live at St. Paul’s. The peer leaders have helped me adjust to the fast-paced work schedule at university and have helped me to better manage my time. They have also given me advice on my essays, exams and assignments in order to see me do better. They have definitely helped boost my marks up by a couple percent with their study skills and the strategies they have taught me.
