High Efficiency Motors
High efficiency motors are machines which are used to run the fans and pumps of the heating, ventilation and cooling systems. This increase in efficiency can result in substantial savings. The problem however is that the cost of high efficiency motors is much more than the standard motor, and the labour costs are usually also very expensive. These motors can be found in certain buildings around campus but certainly not in great numbers. The reason for this is the fact that Plant Operations only replaces motors that cannot be repaired. In effect, it would only be reasonable to implement these motors into the construction of the new building.
