Our project has included an in depth study of modes of transportation used by the university community. The intent of this project was to gain a better understanding of the transportation dynamics and systems and how they effect the sustainability of the campus. Our project revealed that a significant number of people rely on vehicles to get to and from campus.
We have identified and tried to promote alternative
methods of transportation to and from the university for those that rely
on the convenience rather than necessity of using cars.
Contained in our report are the statistics and figures from interviews and surveys that were conducted. They support our initial claims that the current transportation systems at the University of Waterloo are not congruent with UW’s pledge to promoting sustainability on campus.
We have included what we believe to be feasible
recommendations for the university to implement. We hope that those
who have been elected to their positions of power at the university will
give serious thought and consideration when they evaluate our report.
